The re-writes on ROOPA have consumed the bulk of my writing time - which comes to just a couple hours a day. This has left me with very little time to update our web page here. That may be changing now that the ROOPA book is nearly complete.
I had first compiled the bulk of the work about a year ago and put it into a book from the self publishing site: lulu.com. I proudly showed it to my editor, Steven Rosen, (aka Satyaraj das) who promptly told me: 'it was unreadable. Has to be completely re-written.'
Well, no problem. I'll just do a re-write (which took a couple months) and ta da, it’s done. For the final polish, I gave it to Katelyn at Arbor books (my intended publisher) for one last look over. To my horror, she ripped the entire book apart. She took 6 weeks to do these edits, but it took me 6 months to completely re-write the entire book. Ouch. It was more difficult then writing it out the first time.
The new edition however, was of course significantly better. Katelyn did one last review and returned the book to me about 10 days later. She made quite a few edits. It’s taken me another 10 weeks to go over them.
Those re-writes are now available here under the Chapter section of this site. This section reprints the summary chapters of book. These summaries provide a great encapsulation of the work.
I've sent off this edition to the economist to look over some of the numbers again while I write the last chapter and Letter of Appreciation. This work will hopefully be done within the next week or so. The book will then be off to Steven Rosen for one last edit before his wife does the layout. She is does graphic design work for Time Mag. & NY Times etc. Hopefully, she will make the work far more reader friendly.
This last step may take a few months more. During this time, we will use the copy returned from the economist. This is available at lulou.com for those who are interested. The final edition that will be edited by Steven Rosen will be sent off to the printers for a professional printing rather than the self publishing editions now available at lulu.com. We will hopefully have this final edition ready by fall.

For now, the latest edition of the book is available at lulu.com.. However, there are a couple different books and authors that go by the name of both roopa and or Raghu. To find our work, you need to go to lulu's search botton and look for both ‘raghu’ and ‘roopa.’
There, you will see several editions of ROOPA to choose from.
The first of these is called: ‘The ROOPA Story. The Abyss of Political Activism.’ This is the old title but because an SBNC number. Once assigned, you cannot change the title. So this is a complete edition, but with the old edition.
There is also a new edition with the new title called: Social Cost: The Magic bullet of social policy. This hard copy is selling for $15.
There is then an abridged edition for just $12. This includes just 8 of the 33 chapters. We also have the free download version which includes the summary section only.
